Millpond House

Millpond House cantilevers gently over the edge of a still millpond, its stone base rooted into the bank while the upper timber volume appears to hover above the water. Floor to ceiling glazing along the water side blurs the boundary between interior and pond, particularly at golden hour when the whole facade seems to catch fire. The house was designed to be experienced from the water as much as from the land.

The living space cantilevers furthest out over the water, with a glazed floor panel at one end giving a direct view straight down to the pond below. Bedrooms sit back on the stone footed portion of the house, further from the water's edge and the sound of it. A small dock extends from the lower terrace for direct water access.
